Rahim Mohammadi
Salam/Hello. I’m Rahim. My name means merciful in Arabic, and I work hard to live up to it. I am the youngest member of the G11 group.
I arrived in Australia as a refugee from Afghanistan and I care deeply about the sanctity and value of life. If you’ve felt unheard or pushed to the margins, I’m here to make sure your voice shapes decisions, not just sits in a report. Every person deserves better systems, better support and better outcomes.
I’m a Psychology graduate from QUT and an Engagement and Project Lead in lived experience roles with MHLEPQ and NMHCA. I draw on my experiences of mental health, trauma and disability to push for practical change that holds up in real settings. I’ve advised and consulted across more than 30 organisations and contributed to policy, strategy and program design with stakeholders across local, state and federal government. I back co-design because systems improve when people most affected by them lead the conversation.
I’m not perfect. I’ve made calls I’d change in hindsight. I own that, learn fast and correct course. And no matter what, I will always be learning and listening to those around me as everyone can teach you something about life.
In my current work I’ve engaged with more than 350 people with lived experience and supported over 35 projects. I focus on access and equity, mental health and distress, suicidality, disability, CALD communities and youth. I build strong relationships with teams, set clear priorities and keep projects moving under pressure. I track risks early and address them. I also speak Dari and have working proficiency in Farsi and Pashto, which helps me connect across cultures.
I engage directly with local parliament members, government departments, and key stakeholders because change happens through conversation, persistence, and showing up. I’ve contributed to policy submissions and inquiries that actually matter. Australia’s Human Rights Framework Inquiry. The Royal Commission into Violence, Neglect, and Exploitation of People with Disability. The Parliamentary Inquiry into Serious Vilification and Hate Crimes. The Queensland Youth Strategy. These aren’t just lines on my CV, they represent real opportunities to shift systems that affect real people.
When I’m off the clock, I write poetry, cook, get active and sometimes sink a few hours into video games. If you care about outcomes over optics, we’re already aligned.
Let’s make systems that let people thrive.
Want to connect? I’m always open to conversations about collaboration, advocacy, and creating meaningful change together. Feel free to reach me via my LinkedIn
