Refugee Health Network Queensland (RHNQ) is committed to advocating for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to seek pathways to practise medicine in Australia.
We regularly monitor opportunities for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) across Queensland and other parts of Australia. We encourage IMGs to explore the current pathways and programs that can assist with gaining clinical experience, meeting registration requirements and navigating the Australian medical system.

You are also welcome to explore opportunities through the Mater Volunteers Program, which can be a helpful way to gain exposure to the health system and contribute meaningfully while continuing your IMG journey. You can contact the Mater Volunteers team directly via the Mater website- Volunteering – Mater. While we are unable to offer additional support at this stage, we will save your details and contact you if the observership program or any other relevant opportunities become available again.
Mater Refugee and Multicultural Health piloted an International Medical Graduate Observership for refugee backgrounds program. This program has now finished. Read more here: International Medical Graduate Observership from refugee backgrounds (IMG-FRB)
