Evelyn Pe
Evelyn Pe is originally from Myanmar and speaks Burmese and English. She has lived in Australia for over 35 years. Before coming to Australia, she lived in Myanmar for nearly 30 years where she worked as a Pharmacist for 8 years.
In Australia she has worked and studied Public Health and Community Care. She has worked with the Ethnic Communities Council Qld (ECCQ) Chronic Disease Program delivering healthy lifestyle education to support the prevention and self-management of chronic diseases (including Hepatitis, HIV and STI testing) for the Myanmar community. She has also worked as a Burmese Interpreter for 20 years. She is well connected with new arrivals from refugee backgrounds and the refugee health sector. She has been part of the ‘Refugee Health Advisory Group ‘(G11) for the past 15 years.
She is involved as a volunteer in the Myanmar community, including being on the board at AMFAQ, cultural consultant for Qld Trancultural Mental Health Centre and ECCQ Statewide Community Health Advisory Committee and has been involved in multiple presentations to Myanmar community in Burmese and clinicians in English.
She is passionate about working and helping people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
